This week, Billboard’s World Albums chart, the ranking of the bestselling “world music” releases in America is ruled by Enhypen. The South Korean boy band’s latest offering Dimension: Answer opens in first place, bringing the beloved outfit back to the summit. Right below that debut, one of the most successful titles to ever place on the tally nearly reclaims the throne, and it celebrates reaching a very special milestone in the process.
BTS’s Map of the Soul: 7 is a non-mover at No. 2 on the World Albums chart, and this has turned out to be a very notable frame for the title. The set hits 100 weeks on the tally, which is a very rare sight on the list. In fact, only one act has managed to make it to that mark, and they’ve now done so several times.
Map of the Soul: 7 is just the fifth release from a K-pop act to spend at least 100 weeks on the World Albums chart, and the other four are also by BTS. The band continues to rule over the tally like no other name from South Korea, as their efforts always rise to the summit, and they rack up more turns on the ranking than any others.
A pair of BTS studio efforts are tied for the most weeks spent on the World Albums chart, though one will surely pull ahead of the other sometime soon. Their beloved collections Love Yourself: Tear and Love Yourself: Answer have both earned 170 stays somewhere on the ranking. Coming in behind those titles is the third in the Love Yourself series, Love Yourself: Her, which has already appeared on the list for 147 frames.
BTS’s Map of the Soul: Persona ranks as the fourth-longest-charting title in the history of the World Albums chart, looking solely at releases by South Korean artists. It’s thus far managed to spend 134 weeks on the tally, and that sum may rise again.
This week, BTS claims one-third of all the spaces on the World Albums chart, as five of their collections appear on the 15-spot tally. Appearing behind Map of the Soul: 7 in the runner-up rung are Be (No. 6, 61 weeks), Love Yourself: Answer (No. 8, 170 weeks), Love Yourself: Her (No. 14, 147 weeks) and Map of the Soul: Persona (No. 15, 134 weeks). Two of those efforts, Be and Love Yourself: Answer, return to the list this frame, padding their already impressive totals even further.
