Travelers have dozens of new hotels to look forward to in 2023 no matter where in the world they go. Every major loyalty program has new properties to show off so be sure to sign up to take advantage of the latest points-earning promotions, too. From boutique hotels to grand-scale resorts, these new accommodations are opening in December, January or February.
Northeast
Virgin Hotels will open its sixth property when it unveils the Virgin Hotel New York in February. Located in the NoMad neighborhood, it will have 460 rooms and suites, a rooftop pool and bar, and The Sky Loft (an event space with 30 foot-tall windows and a panoramic observation deck).
In Brooklyn, the February opening of the 216-room Moxy Williamsburg will please Marriott Bonvoy fans. It will have a garden courtyard and restaurant serving a menu from the Middle East’s Levant region. The hotel will also offer guests a variety of free events including #SweatAtMoxy fitness classes, local live music, art exhibits and fashion pop-ups.
At Eastwind Oliverea Valley, the new Catskills property which opens in January, guests can stay at 30 all-weather, wood-framed, freestanding cabins. The property will also have its own “forage-to-table” restaurant.
Not far from New York City is Hotel Lilien, a new 18-room boutique hotel that opened this month. It has a complimentary “Gear Bar,” which offers things like snow shoes and a sled menu in the winter and hiking backpacks and poles during the summer.
Bluebird Lake Placid opens in January with both Scandinavian and Japanese Alpine influence. Tipplers will discover a bar inspired by 1980s’ nostalgia and classic New York ski culture.
In January, the Canopy by Hilton Toronto Yorkville will open as part of a mixed-use residential development with 178 rooms and suites.
Mid-Atlantic and Southeast
At the end of January, the citizenM Miami World Center will open as the second for the brand in the city. It will have a rooftop pool and bar plus the company’s signature pillowtop beds in each guest room.
Also in Miami is this month’s opening of The Elser Hotel & Residences in a 49-floor tower featuring 646 accommodations ranging from rooms to three-bedroom suites.
Cambria Hotel Savannah Downtown Historic District opens this month bringing the Choice Hotels’ brand and signature design elements to the Georgia city.
New to the scene is the Embassy Suites by Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort, which will open in February. Part of the Cavalier Resort development, it will be a welcome addition to Hilton Honors members interested in taking advantage of its complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast and free evening happy hour perks.
This month will see the opening of Trilogy Hotel Montgomery, Autograph Collection in the capital city of Alabama. The name was chosen to represent the “third chapter” in the city’s long-standing history with an underlying message of hope.
Midwest and Southern states
Cambria Hotel Austin Uptown Near The Domain opens in the Texas capital this month. Another hotel is opening this month from the Choice Hotels’s brand with the new Cambria Hotel Detroit Downtown.
Hyatt Centric Congress Avenue Austin, which boasts 31 floors in downtown Austin, will open Feb. 1. UCO Studios is responsible for the interior design. The hotel will feature a restaurant led by San Antonio chef and six-time James Beard Foundation finalist Steve McHugh.
El Tropicano San Antonio Riverwalk, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, opens next month on the Riverwalk and not far from the city’s famous Alamo.
Chicago welcomes a new luxury hotel in February with the opening of The St. Regis Chicago. The waterfront hotel will have an indoor pool and outdoor sundeck.
West Coast and Hawaii
On the Columbia River, the new Hotel Indigo Vancouver Downtown – Portland Area will open next month. It will have a rooftop bar as well as a steak and seafood-focused restaurant.
In the Santa Ynez Valley, the new The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern, An Auberge Resort, will open in February. The hotel is just north of Santa Barbara with 67 guest rooms and cottages.
Close to Stanford University, the Graduate Palo Alto opens this month as part of a historic restoration of the iconic Hotel President. It has 100 rooms and a rooftop bar with a variety of drinks including low ABV cocktails.
AC Hotel Oakland Downtown is opening in January with its European influences available in guest rooms and on the breakfast buffet with things like Spanish ham and cheese on the menu.
Los Angeles’ growing downtown scene will welcome the new AC Hotel Downtown Los Angeles next month. It is part of a complex across from the Los Angeles Convention Center and Crypto.com Arena with 13 dining and entertainment options.
In February, Drift Palm Springs opens in the downtown desert city with a mix of Spanish Colonial Revival and Moorish modern architecture and design. It will also have an outdoor pool with shaded cabanas.
Palihouse West Hollywood opens this month with an indoor-outdoor pool lounge and 95 rooms.
Maribel, a new ski chalet in the Sierra Nevada, opens this month with 29 rooms and suites. It benefits from direct access to both the Maribel and Aìguila slopes.
In Sedona, Arizona, Ambiente, A Landscape Hotel opens in February amid the famous red rocks as part of The Leading Hotels of the World.
Not far away is the new Eddy Hotel Tucson, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, that will open in February just north of downtown. It will be participate in the Hilton Honors loyalty program.
Eagle’s Nest Lodge opens in January as an ultra-luxe heli-ski resort. The 8,000 sq ft alpine-style lodge is only a 12-minute flight from Anchorage. The property will also be home to a 5-day “summer odyssey” program for non-winter outdoor adventure.
The Wayfinder Waikiki is a new boutique, design hotel opening in Honolulu this month. Guest rooms take their inspiration from the sights and stories of Hawaii. The restaurant will serve local dishes including made-to-order poke bowls using fresh ahi, hamachi and salmon among other ingredients.
Europe
Portrait Milano, within the former Archiepiscopal Seminary (Europe’s oldest seminary), was built in 1564, but is now part of the Lungarno Collection. With 73 rooms and suites, the hotel boasts rather large rooms as well as a Presidential Suite four times the size. The luxury hotel is part of The Leading Hotels of the World group.
Casa Baglioni Milan will also join the group in January located in the Brera district with inspiration from the art and design of 1960s Milan.
A contemporary, Austrian ski lodge is another member of The Leading Hotels of the World group when Falkensteiner Hotel Montafon hits the scene this month.
Also in Austria, The Cōmodo will open in January in Bad Gastein as part of the Design Hotels grouping. Once an old clinic, the rooms have been transformed into chic and stylish mountain accommodations. It will participate in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program.
Two resorts are opening this month in the Swiss Alps. Faern Arosa Altein and Faern Crans-Montana Valaisia. The properties will have various game rooms, a cinema room, and apres-ski DJ events.
In the south of France, the new Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel is a fine addition to the top-end of the hospitality roster. The hotel is within a 19th century architectural structure along the city’s famous boardwalk. It will open in January.
Also coming soon is the Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Hotel, which will officially open in Rome next month. It dominates the beautiful Piazza della Republica and is within walking distance of many famous tourist attractions.
Hilton Rome EUR La Lama will also open this month with a rooftop restaurant and direct access to La Nuvola Roma Convention Center.
Radisson RED Liverpool opens this month in a historic building in the British city. It is located next door to Liverpool Lime Street train station and will be a part of the Radisson Rewards loyalty program.
Kurula’s Resort will open in Pyhä, Finland in February as an outdoor resort paradise. It is next to Lake Pyhäjärvi and a short walk from the Pyhä Ski Resort ski lifts and hiking trails. The country’s oldest national park, Pyhä-Luosto, is also close to the property. Each of the 17 suites has its own sauna, kitchen and outdoor terrace.
Middle East and Africa
Emerald Zanzibar Resort & Spa opens this month, another member of The Leading Hotels of the World, with beachfront property and resort-style amenities.
The Ned Doha opened this month just in time for the FIFA World Cup events in Qatar. The new members’ club and hotel is in the former Ministry of the Interior building on the Al Corniche waterfront.
Also opening this month are two new Accor properties in Doha: the Raffles and Fairmont. They occupy an iconic new building in the city’s Lusail district, Katara Towers, which is meant to look like the country’s national seal.
Preferred Hotels & Resorts will add the Serry Beach Resort in Hurghada, Egypt next month. The resort will have 453 rooms overlooking the Red Sea from a private beach. It will also have an onsite aqua park with freshwater wave pools and water slides.
In a first for Nobu, the restaurant and hospitality brand will make its debut in Africa with the January opening of Nobu Hotel Marrakech. In addition to 71 suites, it will have a rooftop garden a with circular pool boasting 360-degree views of the city including the historic old walls of the Medina.
Also in Morocco is a new luxury hotel for Rabat. Conrad Rabat Arzana will open this month 120 rooms and suites including the largest suite in the country at nearly 7,000 sq ft. This hotel represents Hilton’s first luxury hotel in the country.
Hilton’s Curio Collection brand is coming to Nairobi with the February opening of Kwetu Nairobi, Curio Collection by Hilton. Numerous outdoor activities are readily available given the property’s location on the edge of the Karura Forest. The hotel is not far from the city’s business district. Divided into room blocks, each building has a private butler to tend to guests.
Asia-Pacific
Inspired by Vietnam’s Indochine era, The Anam Mui Ne will open in January with 127 rooms and suites. This is the second Anam property to open following a 2017 opening in Cam Ranh. The homegrown Vietnamese luxury hotel brand will open with a ban on single-use plastics as well as other eco-friendly movements.
The St. Regis Jakarta opened this month as part of the luxury Marriott Bonvoy brand. Within the Golden Triangle district, the 17-floor hotel has 254 rooms and 28 suites.
Two hotels are opening as part of the Design Hotels brand in Indonesia with the Somewhere, Lombok opening in January and Cap Karoso in Sumba opening in February.
Hoshino Resorts RISONARE Osaka opens this month in Japan with a lounge designed especially for children to test out their artistic capabilities. In-house art experts, known as atelieristas, will guide young guests on how to express their creativity during the stay.
Latin America and Caribbean
Don Rafa Boutique Hotel & Residences opened this month influenced by a 1950s ambiance. The hotel is also decked out in Puerto Rican art throughout the six-story building.
Coming soon to Cable Beach in the Bahamas is Goldwynn Resort & Residences, which will open in February. It will be a mix of traditional hotel as well as property rentals.
In Nuevo León, Mexico, the new Galeria Plaza Monterrey will open next year as part of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts group. The skyscraper is located in the city’s financial district with panoramic views of the Cerro de la Silla mountain.
Next month will see the opening of the new Andaz Mexico City Condesa adding yet another World of Hyatt option to the Mexican capital. Mexican architect Luis Barragan delivered traditional architectural elements and splashes of colors throughout the design of this modern property while respecting the sophisticated style of Andaz properties. Each unique in design, Andaz hotels also feature a signature scent crafted by local parfumiers that reflects the destination. The pet-friendly hotel will also feature a “wooftop” beer garden and “canine club.”
On 48 acres of forestland overlooking the ocean in Punta Mita, the new Naviva, A Four Seasons Resort opened this month with 15 loyalty tents. Onsite experiences include spa-themed activities like breathwork, bioharmonic therapy, a Shamanic sound journal and traditional temazcal ceremony.
Design Hotels is adding a new member to its portfolio in Zihuantanejo, Mexico with the new Hotelito by MUSA opening in January.
Secrets Impression Moxché Playa del Carmen is an adults-only, all-inclusive property along the Caribbean Sea. Opened this month, each suite has its own butler that can assist with anything guests need. It is part of the growing portfolio of all-inclusive hotels within the World of Hyatt group.
Near Punta Cana, Dreams Flora Resort & Spa will open in February with 520 rooms and suites. In addition to all-inclusive food and beverage options, the resort also has a variety of recreational options including fishing, scuba diving, dance classes and movie nights. As part of AMR, the resort will also participate in the World of Hyatt loyalty program.
Not far away, the new Falcon’s Resort by Melia All Suites Punta Cana opens this month. The hotel is part theme park and part island resort with a retail, dining and shopping district.
Now open is the Zoëtry Marigot Bay St. Lucia, another addition to the World of Hyatt portfolio. With 124 rooms and suites, it also joins the group’s all-inclusive portfolio.
Embassy Suites by Hilton Aruba Resort opens in January with its signature cooked-to-order breakfast and evening happy hour for island guests. The resort will have 330 suites as well as five food and beverage outlets.
In the old town of Panama City, a new luxury hotel will open in January with the Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo Panama. This will be the first property in North and Central America for Accor’s Sofitel Legend luxury brand.
Hilton Santa Marta opens in the beautiful Colombian beach city in January with 261 rooms and a restaurant serving regional cuisine.
Hotel Montevideo, in the Uruguayan capital, is part of The Leading Hotels of the World with contemporary decor and Polo Bamba Piso 10, a bar with craft cocktails on the rooftop.
