The buyout market is already materializing with players on the move to new teams. If the Milwaukee Bucks want in on the action, they will have to strike soon.
I previously detailed eight guards the Bucks should consider, but one of them, Reggie Jackson, has already signed with a new team. Jackson was my top ranked guard available considering what Milwaukee needs.Terrence Ross was set to make an appearance on this list, but has already signed with the Phoenix Suns.
Still, there are several capable wings available if that’s the route Milwaukee wants to go. Without further ado, here are five wings Milwaukee could consider on the buyout market.
Kelly Oubre
I’ll admit, this one is a little far-fetched and could be the result of my belief he’d be a great fit on the Bucks. The Athletic’s John Hollinger also named him as a potential buyout candidate considering he’s in the final year of his deal.
Oubre is currently recovering from a torn ligament in his hand that has held him out since the very beginning of January, but is expected to return soon. He has enough defensive versatility to match what the Bucks want to do and can defend multiple positions. Adding another lengthy wing defender would be very helpful for Milwaukee. His offensive I.Q. and shot selection is questionable at best, but I trust Mike Budenholzer to reign him in on that end.
Will Barton
It was just last year when Barton averaged 14.7 points per game and was a starter on a very good Denver Nuggets team. He’s also a proven playoff player with them and could help the end of Milwaukee’s bench. It’s been a struggle this year in Washington and his offense has been horrible. On the other hand, he’s proven he can create some shots and is a capable wing defender.
Danny Green
If the Bucks are simply looking for a three-and-D wing, Green is their guy. He doesn’t create shots for himself or others nor does he do much of anything off the bounce. He can space the floor and provide the Bucks’ stars with a little extra room to work with. He’s also a savvy defender and can help Milwaukee in that area.
Justin Holiday
Jrue Holiday,s older brother, Justin, could get in on the brotherly love action in Milwaukee. The Bucks have the Antetokounmpo brothers currently on their team and have employed both Lopez’s in the past as well. Why not add a third brother pairing? This Holiday is a pesky defender who will bother his man the length of the court, and can also knock down some threes. He’s also a great teammate. There are worse players the Bucks could add.
Bryn Forbes
I’m not big on adding Forbes to this Bucks’ roster, but he could be available so I added him to this list. When Forbes was on the team in 2020-21, he didn’t make the cut past the first-round of the playoffs. That was two years ago and he’s unlikely to make an impact at any point in the postseason this time around. He’s an above 40 percent three-point shooter for his career, but has dropped off significantly this year, only making 30.4 pt. Offense would be the only value he’d add.
