5 Seconds of Summer decided to change things up with its newest album Everyone’s a Star! Instead of leaning on the pop punk sound that first made the Australian outfit household names a decade ago, the musicians instead pivoted to a more boy band pop style, and it seems that longtime fans of the group don’t mind the alteration one bit.
Everyone’s a Star! is a quick winner on charts all around the world, and in the United States, the set launches within the top 10 on multiple tallies. Everyone’s a Star! even manages to bring 5 Seconds of Summer to a never-before-seen high on one list, earning the troupe its first ever leader on one competitive chart.
5 Seconds of Summer Hit No. 1 for the First Time
Everyone’s a Star! debuts atop the Vinyl Albums chart, Billboard’s ranking of the bestselling full-lengths and EPs on wax throughout America. The four musicians replace Hayley Williams on the throne, as her solo effort Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party conquered the roster just days ago and this time around dips to No. 3. Taylor Swift’s former leader The Life of a Showgirl improves slightly to No. 2, sandwiched in between 5 Seconds of Summer and Williams.

As Everyone’s a Star! debuts as the bestselling vinyl record in America, 5 Seconds of Summer earns its first No. 1 on the Vinyl Albums chart. The group has placed six collections on the roster, and all but one have spent time inside the top 10.
Everyone’s a Star! Beats Two Former No. 2 Bestsellers
Previously, a pair of releases were tied as 5 Seconds of Summer’s highest rising wins on the Vinyl Albums chart. Both 5SOS5 and Calm missed out on ruling by just one space. Calm launched at No. 2 in April 2020, while 5SOS5 stalled in the runner-up spot in October 2022.
Sounds Good Feels Good and the group’s self-titled effort peaked at Nos. 3 and 5, respectively. 5 Seconds of Summer didn’t reach the Vinyl Albums chart until February of this year, making 2025 the first time the Australian group has earned two new placements on the Vinyl Albums tally in one calendar year.

Everyone’s a Star! almost leads multiple charts in the U.S., as it arrives at No. 2 on the Top Album Sales tally. Luminate reports that in its first tracking frame of availability, the set sold just under 41,500 copies in America alone. This frame, the band is beaten to the loftiest space on the general purchase list by rapper NF, whose Fear EP beats Everyone’s a Star! by only a few thousand sales.
5 Seconds of Summer Has Already Scored Multiple Bestsellers
While Everyone’s a Star! doesn’t make it to the throne on the Top Album Sales list, 5 Seconds of Summer has already accrued five No. 1s on that tally. 5SOS5, Calm, Youngblood, Sounds Good Feels Good, and the group’s self-titled affair all led the ranking for one frame a piece. Everyone’s a Star! joins the She Looks So Perfect EP as the only runners-up and one of the group’s eight top 10s.
5 Seconds of Summer Reaches a New Low Inside the Top 10
5 Seconds of Summer also returns to the highest region on the Billboard 200, where Everyone’s a Star! opens at No. 6. While the release marks a new high on the vinyl roster and almost brings the musicians back to the summit on the Top Album Sales tally, Everyone’s a Star! is now the lowest-ranking top 10 in the group’s discography on the Billboard 200, the all-encompassing list of the most consumed albums in the U.S. Three projects have hit No. 1, while another trio peaked at No. 2. Only LiveSOS, which arrived in January 2015, missed out on the uppermost tier as it climbed to No. 13.
Two New 5 Seconds of Summer Songs Become Bestsellers
5 Seconds of Summer has not scored a Hot 100 win for several years, although a pair of tracks featured on Everyone’s a Star! do become bestsellers in a quiet frame for hit songs in the U.S. “Start Over” and “Wishful Dreaming” launch at Nos. 21 and 24, respectively, on the Digital Song Sales tally, and 5 Seconds of Summer is now up to 19 wins on the list of the bestselling tunes in America.
