Next month’s PlayStation Plus Essential games have leaked online. PS Plus Essential is the base tier that existed prior to Sony expanding its PS Plus offerings into several distinct offerings. Normally, Sony gives out three games a month to PS4 and PS5 gamers. This month, subscribers can expect one extra it appears, likely thanks to the Destiny 2 expansion, Lightfall, which drops on February 28th.
The four free games—leaked courtesy of PlayStation Plus super-leaker billbil-kun—are:
- OlliOlli World (2022)
- Mafia: Definitive Edition (2020)
- Evil Dead: The Game (2022)
- Destiny 2: Beyond Light (2020)
This is a great spread of freebies with a little something for everyone. OlliOlli World is a sports/skating platformer that’s gotten great reviews. I’ve been meaning to play it for a while and now—if the leak turns out to be true, which seems very likely—I can for free!
Mafia: Definitive Edition is terrific. It’s like GTA without all the side-quests, focusing much more on a linear story about old-school mafia families and the dangerous life of organized crime. The remake is very good, with really wonderful updated graphics.
Evil Dead: The Game continues a long tradition of asymmetrical horror shooters popularized by games like Dead By Daylight. This time, you can step into the shoes of Ash Williams and friends, fighting off the evil Kandarian Demon (played by another player).
Finally, Beyond Light is a big Destiny 2 expansion from a couple years ago that I didn’t get around to playing. Sony is likely hoping it whets the appetites of subscribers who might in turn go buy
We’ll know for sure if these games are the real February PS Plus titles this Wednesday when Sony unveils next month’s lineup. The new batch of games will be available to claim next Tuesday. You still have until then to claim this month’s excellent PS Plus titles as well.
