JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – OCTOBER 6: Tank Bigsby #4 of the Jacksonville Jaguars breaks tackles to … More
Before we dive too deep into this article, I want to preface things by saying that running backs aren’t a great buy right now. With the ambiguity of the NFL Draft, it’s best to wait until after to make sure your running back isn’t getting replaced.
On the flip side, though, if you want to buy a running back, these are your best options. Below, we’ll be going over three players who are valued extremely low in dynasty fantasy football.
With such a low ranking already on Keep Trade Cut, if they get competition in the draft, you’re not losing much. However, if things break their way, you could see a massive value spike from them.
3 Running Backs To Buy In Dynasty Fantasy Football
1. Tank Bigsby
KTC Value: RB35
Starting with the most expensive player on this list, we have Tank Bigsby. What makes me a fan of Bigsby is the combination of draft capital, efficiency and opportunity.
Starting with draft capital, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected him on day two (round three) of the 2023 NFL Draft. Going back to a study that I’ve referenced before, running backs in round three have a 35% chance of becoming an RB2 compared to round four backs, who are at 26%.
Bigsby would only take 50 carries as a rookie, but in year two, he had a much larger role. In year two, Bigsby ran for 766 yards (166 carries) and posted an excellent 4.6 YPC mark.
The only running back ahead of Bigsby is Travis Etienne, who is set to become a free agent in 2026. Etienne has been in trade rumors for quite some time, potentially opening the door for Bigsby.
2. Rhamondre Stevenson
KTC Value: RB39
Let me remind you that Rhamondre Stevenson is the 10th highest-paid running back on an average per-year basis. The New England Patriots invested in him and the only other back in that offense is Antonio Gibson.
Stevenson has shown that he can produce, scoring 14.7 PPG and he’s not super old at 27. The Patriots have clearly been holding their players back as the offense struggled last year.
With 3rd overall draft pick Drake Maye expected to take a big leap in year two, this offense could see a ton of improvement. If that’s the case, it’s very easy to see how Stevenson gets back to his 2022 ways.
CLEVELAND, OHIO – NOVEMBER 03: J.K. Dobbins #27 of the Los Angeles Chargers celebrates after a … More
3. J.K. Dobbins
KTC Value: RB49
After beating the odds of a long list of injuries, J.K. Dobbins is still being undervalued. In fairness, Dobbins has a lot of risk because we don’t know where he’ll end up.
It would be shocking if Dobbins didn’t get a solid landing spot as a 26-year-old back who just ran for 805 yards last season. Dobbins is a very talented player who just had 14.8 PPG last year.
The hope with Dobbins is that, as a free agent, he will wait until after the NFL Draft to sign with a team. Assuming Dobbins wants to become the starter, he can make sure there’s not too much competition.
