Three people have been killed and dozens are injured after a regional train derailed on Friday afternoon in Southern Germany near the resort town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria, police said, according to multiple outlets.

At least 60 people of all ages were harmed, including 16 seriously injured, after a regional train traveling toward Munich derailed around 12:15 p.m. near Burgrain, according to regional German newspaper Muenchener Merkur.
Several carriages overturned and some fell down an embankment, according to the German newspaper.
It’s unclear how many people were on board when the train crashed, though a police spokesperson said the train was quite full, according to Reuters.
A police spokesman told the German outlet people were “being pulled through the windows,” to complete a major rescue and evacuations operation.
The train station, DG Regio Bayern, said the Garmisch-Partenkirchen line was closed due to a train accident and no rail replacement service would be offered due to additional road closures.
