2022 Emmy Nominations Include Lee Jung-Jae And ‘Squid Game’

The 2022 Emmy nominations were announced today and include two nominations for Korean talent.

Actor Lee Jung-jae was nominated for Outstanding Actor in A Drama Series. The nomination is for his role in the highly successful Korean drama series Squid Game. Squid Game, which focuses on a group of desperate individuals who compete in deadly children’s games, was also nominated for outstanding drama series.

Squid Game has already taken home multiple awards, including a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for actress Jung Ho-yeon, a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Miniseries, or Motion Picture Made for Television for O Yeong-su, a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series, a Baeksang Arts Award Grand Prize in TV, a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Bingeworthy Show and a Baeksang Arts Award for Best TV Director.

Lee previously won a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series, a Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series and an Independent Series Award for Best Male Performance in a Scripted Series

The Emmy awards, presented for artistic and technical merit in US television, are considered one of the four major US awards for the performing arts and entertainment. Squid Game is the first ever non-English show to be nominated for an Emmy.

The Emmy awards will be presented on Sept. 10.
