Police said two people died and two others were injured in a shooting Saturday at an apartment complex in Brown Deer, Wisconsin, and the lone suspect is in custody.
Key Facts
When officers arrived on the scene approximately 12 miles north of Milwaukee around 10:10 a.m., the suspect allegedly fired shots at police from the second floor of the Park Plaza apartment complex, Brown Deer Police Chief Peter Nimmer said during a press conference.
No officers were injured by gunfire, and none of the officers returned fire toward the suspect, Nimmer said.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office said in a tweet it would conduct autopsies of a male victim and a female victim on Monday.
One of the injured is in critical condition in an area hospital, according to Nimmer.
The suspect is one of the two people injured in the shooting, and his condition is unknown, Nimmer said.
What We Don’t Know
Police said they had no indication yet of the suspect’s motive for the shooting. Nimmer did not indicate the ages or genders of those hurt in the shooting.
Crucial Quote
Nimmer said tactical teams were still working to clear the building, but he said “there is no reason to believe that there is anybody else we’re looking for.” “We believe we have the suspect, so there is no reason to believe that there’s any danger to the community,” he said.
