The U.S. Department of Justice has warned the pro-Donald Trump political action committee (PAC) founded by Elon Musk that its $1 million-per-day voter sweepstakes may violate federal election law.
As per reports, the letter from the DOJ’s Public Integrity Section to America PAC was found after some legal authorities raised concerns about the $1 Million giveaway.
Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, announced Saturday that he would give $1 million each day to a random registered voter in seven key swing states who signed his PAC’s petition.
He even handed $1m checks to two separate people over the weekend: one to a man in Harrisburg on Saturday and another to a woman in Pittsburgh on Sunday. Another voter in North Carolina has won $1m. Musk has tweeted his congratulations to the winners and requested other registered voters in swing states to sign his petition and enter the lottery.
Congratulations, Andy! https://t.co/QaLyMZOJvk

Several users called out the contest, equating it with ‘bribe’, and calling it illegal
The eligible states — Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin and North Carolina — are the most competitive battlegrounds in the contest between Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.
US Federal law prohibits paying people to vote or to register to vote.
America PAC has spent more than $100 million on the presidential election, and a large portion of the sum comes directly from Trump. Recently, Musk also called out the current fiscal policies as he stressed up on the alarming rise in debt, noting that it has surged by $473 billion in just three weeks, pushing the total to a staggering $35.8 trillion.
