Did the tide turn away from value in January and back in favor of growth?
I’m referring to the relative performance of issues that trade for low ratios of price to net worth (value stocks) and those that trade for high such ratios (growth stocks). Though the long-run tendency has been for value to significantly outperform growth, just the opposite was the case for the decade prior to last year. This led to no end of soul searching among value investors, who began to wonder if the investment environment had fundamentally changed…
