Scaling Up with Layer 2 and Blobs
According to the reports, a central theme in Buterin’s vision is the expansion of Layer 2 (L2) solutions to increase Ethereum’s transaction capacity. Innovations like “blobs,” introduced through EIP-4844, allow for temporary storage of large data packets within blocks, significantly enhancing throughput.
These advancements are projected to enable Ethereum to process up to 100,000 transactions per second (TPS), a substantial leap from current capabilities, according to Bitcoinist.com.
Enhancing Interoperability and User Experience
Furthermore, Buterin emphasizes the importance of seamless interaction between Layer 1 and Layer 2 networks. Efforts are underway to standardize interoperability solutions, including chain-specific addresses and shared tools, to allow users to move effortlessly across the Ethereum ecosystem.
According to another report, the upcoming “Pectra” upgrade, anticipated by early 2025, will introduce the EVM Object Format (EOF) to streamline code and data processing, further facilitating scalability improvements.
Strengthening Security and Current Market Snapshot
Following a recent CNF report, Ethereum’s active wallets increased by 9.5%, while the price increased by 24% from local lows.
To bolster the network’s resilience, the roadmap includes the integration of Verifiable Delay Functions (VDFs) to enhance consensus mechanisms, mitigating potential vulnerabilities associated with the proof-of-stake (PoS) model.
Additionally, the development of cross-chain bridges is prioritized to enhance interoperability with other blockchain networks, facilitating seamless asset transfers and communication.
At the time of writing, Ethereum (ETH) is trading at approximately $1,809.94, reflecting a modest increase of 0.26% over the previous 24 hours, and 2.46% in the past week. See ETH price chart below.
