Is Ethereum the best altcoin to buy for the highly-anticipated second-quarter rally? Whale accumulation activity suggests so. 

The second-largest cryptocurrency has seen a flurry of buying activity from whales in recent days. That has pushed the ETH price to $2000 on Saturday, up 10% from its local bottom earlier this month. If the trend continues, prominent analysts are suggesting a strong likelihood of a bullish continuation in the coming weeks. 

Whales are Stacking Ethereum

Whale activity is an excellent indicator of upcoming price action, considering it suggests the sentiment among smart money investors. 

Ethereum’s whale activity suggests a bottom could be in, and the asset could see a bullish reversal in the coming weeks. Prominent analyst Ali Martinez reveals that whales purchased over 120,000 ETH in the past 24 hours alone, which pans out to an investment of $240 million.

Similarly, following the March 10th crypto crash, whales invested nearly $700 million into Ethereum over the next 5 days. 

Data from Lookonchain also reveals a high demand for ETH among deep-pocketed investors. Just yesterday, a whale bought nearly $14 million worth of Ethereum, $8.8 million through his own funds, and $5 million through USDT borrowed from DeFi platform Aave.

Earlier this week, Lookonchain reported that 3 whales purchased over $30 million worth of ETH. Smart money investors clearly view Ethereum as one of the best altcoins to buy now, especially for the widely expected 2025 Q2 rally. 

Ethereum Price Prediction – Analyst Believes ETH is Gearing Up for $3900

Prominent analysts believe Ethereum is gearing up for a bullish reversal. It has showcased significant bullish strength after dipping into a historical demand zone earlier this month. 

Rekt Capital, which has over 500k followers on X, believes that the Ethereum price could soar to $3900 in 2025 if it manages to flip the $2196 S/R level. A monthly close above $2200 would indeed be an excellent buy signal for sidelined investors. 

Multinational bank Standard Chartered has also given an Ethereum price target of $4000 for 2025. 

Despite the growing optimism, investors still need to exercise caution. As previously stated, investors should wait for a breakout above $2200 before FOMO buying Ethereum. On the contrary, a monthly close below $1950 could pave the way for new lows.
