A wallet address linked to the hacker that stole over $234 million from Indian crypto exchange WazirX has moved $6.5 million worth of Ethereum from the stolen crypto stash today. According to data shared by PeckShieldAlert, the hacker has moved 2600.1 Eth to Tornado Cash in several transactions.

According to on-chain data, the wallet address had a total of $6.7 million when it was first created on September 2. However, now it only has $154,000 after the hacker made 26 consecutive transactions of 100 ETH to Tornado Cash in just one hour.

The transaction happened as the exchange announced that it had started allowing users to withdraw up to 66% of their Indian rupee token balances from the exchange.

The Indian crypto exchange wrote in a Sept. 3 X post, “Starting today, all eligible users can now withdraw up to the full 66% limit of their INR [Indian rupee] balances.”

ETH is worth $2,499 today, a 1.2% spike in the last 24 hours.  The total volume of Ether exchanged over the last 24 hours caps at $9,603,948,863.

The hacker’s use of Tornado Cash to move the stolen crypto will undoubtedly interfere with recovery attempts. The Tornado system structure successfully hides the identities of those who transfer stolen assets across blockchains.
