New Pepe-inspired Layer 2 blockchain Layer Brett has hit $700,000 in presale. Inspired by a meme coin character known as “Pepe’s Brother”, the blockchain is a major transition from Brett on Base into a working network focused on speed, staking, and scale.

The project boasts a total of 10 billion tokens in circulation, backed by a strong community. It is poised to develop and launch features that make it genuinely useful, rather than just another hyped meme coin.

Known as Layer Brett, the blockchain started as “Brett”, a meme-based token on Coinbase’s Base network, built around Brett and developed as Pepe the Frog’s cousin. It, however, had major technical limitations that hindered its growth and practical use beyond the usual meme coin frenzy.

This necessitated the transition to a dedicated Ethereum L2 chain, which unlocked faster transactions, lower gas fees, and native staking features. While it hasn’t lost its original essence, Layer Brett now has infrastructure that is built for practical use.

Early investors in the project can now purchase and choose to stake LBRETT directly through its website. Of the 10 billion tokens in circulation, 30% of Layer Brett’s tokens are set aside for the presale.

Another 25% is earmarked for staking rewards, while the rest of the supply is split across development, liquidity, marketing, and a 2.5% allocation for the team, with a lockup period of 24 months.

Interested persons can buy the token using ETH, USDT, and BNB during the presale, using both MetaMask and Trust Wallet. Purchase and staking can be done directly on-chain, and the team plans to roll out the project in full after the presale.

Some features that make Layer Brett different from traditional meme coin projects include faster transaction throughput via off-chain processing, reduced gas fees compared to Layer 1 Ethereum, enhanced staking rewards due to lower operational overhead, support for MetaMask and Trust Wallet integrations, and an on-chain purchase and staking interface available via the official site.

Going forward, the team plans to roll out adjustments to staking rewards, the introduction of NFTs, and features that incorporate basic game mechanics to strengthen functionality and encourage continued interaction with the network.

The project also aims to introduce cross-chain functionality, enabling the easy movement of assets between Layer Brett and other networks, thereby expanding its reach and user base.
