Ankr (ANKR) and Optimism (OP) have signed a partnership deal aimed at making the former an RPC (Remote Procedure Call) provider of the Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution. With this latest alliance, Ankr is now an RPC provider to 17 major blockchain networks. including BNB Chain and Solana.
Optimism Taps Ankr’s Robust Web3 Infrastructure
Ankr, one of the world’s fastest-growing Web3 infrastructure providers that focuses on providing blockchain companies with the solutions they need to make their networks faster, has announced that it has become an RPC (Remote Procedure Call) provider to Optimism.
Optimism, a blazing-fast, and low-cost Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution conducted the first phase of its highly anticipated OP token airdrop event on May 31, 2022. However, the airdrop did not go as planned due to an unexpected overload on their RPC endpoint that took the team more than five hours to fix.
Ankr Protocol claims to handle an average of six billion blockchain requests per day across more than 50 networks. Ankr delivers time-tested and high-performance RPC node infrastructure to service any request load, massively expanding Optimism’s public RPC resources.
For the uninitiated, an RPC makes it possible for various applications to interact with a blockchain network. With its latest partnership with Optimism, Ankr is now an RPC provider to 17 blockchain networks, including Ethereum, BNB Chain, Solana, and Avalanche, amongst others.
Ankr Committed to Strengthening Optimism
Optimism leverages optimistic rollups technology to improve Ethereum’s scalability. By submitting transaction data to the Ethereum mainnet while processing the transactions off-chain, Optimism reduces fees and increases throughput without sacrificing security. Since its creation, Optimism has saved users more than a billion dollars in gas fees.
Commenting on the partnership, Greg Gopman, the Chief Marketing Officer at Ankr said:
“We love what Optimism is building for the future of Ethereum. Ankr is happy to do our part to provide a fast and reliable RPC service for their users.”
To further strengthen the global Optimism network, Ankr says it’s also providing a geo-distributed and decentralized Optimism RPC made up of a vast array of independent blockchain nodes running worldwide, for low-latency and reliable connections.
Ankr also plans to incentivize independent and enterprise Optimism node operators to add their nodes to the load balancer and get rewarded with ANKR tokens.
Matthew Slipper, Head of Engineering at OP Labs said:
“Apps and integrations choose to build in the Optimism ecosystem because they feel aligned with our values and culture and appreciate the tooling and technical options available to them. In response to requests from our community, we’re excited to offer Ankr as an additional Optimism RPC provider.”
Since its launch in 2021, Ankr has consistently served 200 billion RPC requests each month across 50 blockchain networks. In 2022, Ankr added Web3 gaming SDK, multi-chain liquid staking tools, and app chains to its developer product suite.
Ankr says its alliance with Optimism will also serve as a major boost to dApp developers looking for additional Optimism RPC endpoints. Devs will now be able to access Optimism Public and Premium RPCs, make request calls, and query on-chain information that mirrors the results of running a self-hosted Optimism full node.
