GameSquare, a Nasdaq-listed entertainment and media company, has significantly ramped up its presence in the crypto space with a bold Ethereum investment and a revamped treasury strategy.
In its latest move, the firm disclosed it had acquired 8,351 ETH at an average price of $3,592, amounting to roughly $30 million. This purchase is part of a broader initiative to strengthen its digital asset portfolio, which has now become a central focus for the company’s financial planning.
Alongside the Ethereum acquisition, GameSquare’s board has approved a major expansion of its crypto treasury allocation, lifting the cap from $100 million to $250 million. The firm has also earmarked an initial $10 million to explore revenue opportunities in the NFT space—a signal of growing confidence in the long-term cultural and financial value of non-fungible assets.
To fine-tune its strategy, GameSquare has brought on industry veterans Ryan Zurrer from Dialectic and Rhydon from Goff Capital. Their role will be to help manage and optimize the crypto treasury, with a particular focus on Ethereum-based assets and generating stablecoin yields between 6% and 10%.
CEO Justin Kenna emphasized the company’s unique edge, noting that its experience across gaming and digital entertainment makes it well-positioned to identify the value of digital collectibles and Web3-native assets. GameSquare’s approach marks a notable shift among public firms, integrating NFTs into a formal treasury framework rather than treating them as speculative plays.
With this aggressive expansion, GameSquare joins a growing list of companies treating crypto not just as an asset class, but as a strategic pillar for growth and innovation.
