Ethereum developers are being urged to realign their priorities, with leadership warning that attention on long-term plans could derail more pressing work.
Tomasz Stańczak, Co-Executive Director at the Ethereum Foundation, has called for a temporary halt to discussions around the Glamsterdam upgrade — a release penciled in for 2026 — so the community can focus on delivering Fusaka by the end of 2025.
Fusaka is already in testnet, but faces development bottlenecks that need urgent attention.
Stańczak stressed that keeping to the schedule is critical for Ethereum’s credibility and long-term vision, noting that too much forward-looking debate risks stalling near-term progress.
Fusaka will bring upgrades such as Peer Data Availability Sampling for improved data handling, gas limit adjustments, and refined blob parameters — all aimed at making Ethereum more scalable and efficient.
While Glamsterdam remains on the roadmap, Stańczak insists the immediate priority is ensuring Fusaka launches on time to maintain Ethereum’s momentum in an increasingly competitive blockchain landscape.
