Ethereum Explorer Etherescan Deploys AI Smart Contract Analyzer

The growing popularity and wider adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technology continues to move forward. Companies across industries are deploying AI or looking at ways to implement the technology in their operations. Blockchain analytics firms and data aggregators have also been reported recently to integrate AI. Ethereum blockchain explorer, Etherscan, has also now joined the clan.

AI Would Read the Code on Users’ Behalf

Etherscan has introduced its OpenAI large language based AI tool. Users are going to learn source code inherent in any smart contract with the help of the tool dubbed Code Reader.

The Code Reader, according to Etherscan, leverages AI technology’s power and enables users to “retrieve and interpret the source code of a specific contract address.” The source code files of the contract are also accessible and interactive to the users.

The AI tool is in its beta phase at present and it can benefit in gaining in depth insights of the code. Furthermore, the specific code sections or functions for generative AI prompts are there for better understanding to the user. With the specific smart contract code explanations generated through AI makes it easier for users to deep dive in the system and be aware of the code’s workings.

The blockchain explorer noted, “This feature is particularly valuable when interacting with a smart contract for the first time, as it provides a thorough understanding of its operations and functionality.”

Out of multiple use cases of the tool, it can provide the detailed and extensive reading and writing Ethereum data smart contract functions. The tool also helps in exploring the code for better integration of smart contract capabilities within the decentralized applications (dApps).

“Terms and Conditions Apply”

However, much like any other new tech entering the public domain, the Code Reader also has some conditions. The platform mentioned there will be sufficient usage limits for the OpenAI API key on the website to use the AI service.

The users were also told in advance to not depend upon the answers the tool provides, given the room for error. The process for using the tool is simple and goes as follows: the user needs to insert the API key, then after entering a contract address, a source file for interaction would be needed, and then the tool is ready to be asked questions.

AI Enabled Tools are Picking up Pace

In the past months, many entities were reported to deploy artificial intelligence to their operations, seeking efficiency and speed. Blockchain developer, Alchemy, was said to implement AI tools in its arsenal and the platform intends the tool to help the Web3 developers.

Popular blockchain analytics firm, Elliptic, also deployed OpenAI’s generative chatbot ChatGPT on its platform. The analytics platform would use the AI for better assessment and efficient filtration of the information in an efficient and faster way.
