New data from GitHub highlights the top cryptocurrency projects capturing developer attention over the past week—and Ethereum, Cardano, and Internet Computer (ICP) are leading the charge.
Based on commit activity, Ethereum topped the list with 337 weekly code updates, followed closely by Cardano (319 commits) and ICP (251 commits).
Other actively developed projects included Hedera, Flow, Mina Protocol, Chainlink, Arbitrum, Tezos, and Polkadot. Notably, Mina Protocol stood out with a massive 97.1% jump in weekly commits.
The rankings reflect not only core development efforts but also broader ecosystem contributions. When zooming out to total ecosystem commits, Ethereum again led by a huge margin with over 75,000 commits in a week—far ahead of Scale (17,633), Cosmos (7,861), and Solana (6,085).
Bitcoin, Polygon, and Near Protocol also made the list, while Arbitrum and ICP remained prominent across both categories.
This surge in development activity underscores growing momentum across several major blockchain ecosystems, suggesting ongoing innovation and competition in the space.
