The Japanese electronic company Casio has launched G-Shock watches as Ethereum NFTs. These are the limited set of 2,000 NFT art pieces which went on sale at 10 PM ET Thursday.
G-Shock debuted in the NFT space with the free G-Shock Creator Pass NFT in September on Polygon, the scaling network of Ethereum. This first launch of Casio issued 15,000 limited-edition NFTs that were fully distributed in about six hours.
The brands are going for virtual designs, launching the products as NFTs because they want to explore the wider marketplace and audience. This is the most tailored approach for any brand to offer services and products.
Benefits for NFT Holders
The Ethereum NFT holders will gain some benefits like off the show scenes experiences with Casio that include a tour of the G-Shock Endurance Test Laboratory in Tokyo. This lab shows the durability testing the brand is known for.
Collectors will get the opportunity to attend the rebound table discussion with designers which will help them understand the process behind the virtual G-Shock models. The owners will also get behind-the-scenes design materials attached to the Virtual G-Shock watches. They will also get the right to buy the next wave of Virtual G-Shock NFTs.
Casio also highlighted the future chance for the NFT holders to cooperate on creating new digital Casio products. These are the special offers to the collectors of the NFTs. Casio’s Senior General Manager of Timepieces, Oh Takahashi says “These special incentives for collectors show our passion for innovation in both the digital and physical realms”.
He added, “We aim to deepen our engagement with the G-Shock community, bringing them into the heart of our innovation process.”
Virtual G-Shock is available in two designs, the VGA-001 AND vga-002. Vga-001 with balloon concept and the VGA-002 with leaf spring concept. The balloon concept gives rise to a colorful, balloon-covered G-SHOCK that dances freely.
The leaf spring concept shows a G-SHOCK with a futuristic shock-resistant structure that uses the force of springs to absorb the shock with full strength. Both designs are impressive which wouldn’t be possible with traditional physical materials.
The Polygon pass owners were given the benefit of purchasing the Ethereum NFTs in advance.
Summary
The Japanese company Casio has launched virtual G-Shock Watches on Ethereum. This is the second time the renowned electronics company is launching NFTs. Before this, a collection of 1500 NFTs was launched on Polygon in September.
The holders of the NFT will get exclusive perks. They will receive the attached behind-the-scenes design materials with the watch. They can take part in the round table conference to understand the concept behind the designs and also take a tour of the laboratory to test the endurance of the watches.
