Buenos Aires to Introduce Ethereum Courses in Schools

  • Through the Ministry of Education, Argentina has partnered with The ETH Kipu Foundation to integrate blockchain technology into high school curricula in Buenos Aires.
  • Argentina is safely following El Salvador’s crypto adoption path.

The ETH Kipu Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting Ethereum, has partnered with the Ministry of Education in Buenos Aires to integrate blockchain technology into high school curricula. This strategic move aims to equip the next generation with the skills needed as Argentina steps towards adopting this new asset class.

Drilling down into the specifics, this partnership will introduce students to the fundamentals of blockchain technology, mainly focusing on Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap. Combining theoretical and hands-on approaches, this program is anticipated to start on August 27th. Additionally, students in Buenos Aires can participate in internships within blockchain projects and enroll in an online Solidity course.

It is worth mentioning that Solidity is the primary programming language used for developing Ethereum applications, and the initiative aims to train 500 students aged 18 and older.

The program seeks to foster a new generation of Ethereum developers by offering theoretical and practical knowledge. Notably, Ethereum is leading the charge with the highest number of developers, accounting for over 14,691. This also accounts for 16% of all developers in crypto.

Additionally, to ensure the seamless running of the project, the ETH Kipu Foundation has also launched a training program designed to equip 30 educators with the skills and knowledge.

Paula D., a co-founder of the ETH Kipu Foundation, expressed optimism about the initiative’s potential impact, stating, “This initiative will open up new career opportunities for young people and place Argentina at the forefront of the global blockchain movement.”

Despite no official communication about whether this program will expand beyond Buenos Aires, this education is poised to position the country as a leader in the tech economy.

Learning from the best, Argentina is safely following El Salvador’s crypto adoption path. Reminiscing, early September last year saw El Salvador, the first country to adopt Bitcoin as a legal tender, launch a groundbreaking pilot program to integrate Bitcoin education into all public schools. My First Bitcoin, a leading non-profit and Bitcoin education NGO based in El Salvador, spearheaded this strategic plan. In addition, there was a collaborative effort from Bitcoin Beach and the Ministry of Education.

The adventure doesn’t stop there; an earlier CNF report revealed that El Salvador launched a Bitcoin certification program for its 80,000 civil servants. This ambitious move, spearheaded by the National Bitcoin Office (ONBTC), aims to equip government employees with a deep understanding of Bitcoin and its potential applications in public administration.

El Salvador’s bold step towards Bitcoin legalization has captured international attention, and countries like Argentina have expressed interest in similar initiatives.
