Twitter CEO Elon Musk Fired James Baker Amid Hunter Biden’s Laptop Dispute

Elon Musk fired Twitter’s former Deputy General Counsel James Baker on Tuesday after learning the truth of the Hunter Biden laptop story. He revealed why Twitter’s lawyer suppressed the Hunter Biden story in the final weeks of the 2020 presidential election. Musk said when he confronted Baker, he gave an unconvincing explanation about Russian interference in the 2016 presidential elections.

The new Twitter CEO is a huge fan of Matt Taibbi, who resigned from Rolling Stone to start a newsletter on Substack. The journalist Matt Taibbi published internal communications on how to deal with the New York Post’s publication of materials on Hunter Biden’s laptop on Twitter’s thread.

Taibbi wrote in his publications, “some of the first tools for controlling speech were designed to combat the likes of spam and financial fraudsters. Slowly, over time, Twitter staff and executives began to find more and more uses for these tools. Outsiders began petitioning the company to manipulate speech as well:first a little, then more often, then constantly.”

For the past few days, Taibbi had been researching with American journalist Bari Weiss who discovered that the person in charge of releasing the files was Jim Baker. Taibbi further stated, “they just freelanced it’, is how one former employee characterized the decision. Hacking was the excuse, but within a few hours, pretty much everyone realized that wasn’t going to hold. But no one had the guts to reverse it.”

Sean Davis, CEO of Fedarlist.com, tweeted, “I am shocked to learn that the FBI lawyer who signed off on an illegal FISA warrant containing fabricated evidence meant to deceive the federal courts was also involved in a corrupt scheme to hide evidence about the FBI’s role in censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story.”

Taibbi tweeted, “the news that Baker was reviewing the Twitter files surprised everyone involved, to say the least.”

James Baker joined the discussions that mainly highlighted whether the laptop falls under Twitter’s hacked materials policy. Baker responded to the recent Twitter executive’s tweet about whether they could truthfully claim that the laptop story was “part of policy.”

In 2016, Attorney Michael Sussman met James Baker to provide documents on “purported data and white pacers that allegedly demonstrated a covert communications channel”, which was between the former US president’s Trump Organization and Alfa Bank, which was in Russia.
