‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 Trailer Is Finally Here

The first trailer for Season 3 of The Mandalorian dropped Monday night during the halftime of the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL Wild Card game. The new trailer—above— features Pedro Pascal’s Mando (aka Din Djarin) and Baby Yoda, along with a bunch of other familiar faces from a galaxy far, far away.

The Star Wars Western about a Beskar steel-armored bounty hunter and his young ward returns for the first time since 2020, though Mando showed up in The Book Of Boba Fett last year as well. Pascal also stars in the HBO original series The Last Of Us, in a strikingly similar role as protector of a young ward journeying through a hostile future.

“Our people are scattered like stars in the galaxy,” Mando narrates during the trailer. “What are we? What do we stand for?”

We see the Mandalorian and Grogu flying through the stars in the Razor Crest. “Being a Mandalorian’s not just learning about how to fight,” Mando says. “You also have to know how to navigate the galaxy. That way, you’ll never be lost.”

Mando, we learn, is returning to Mandalore—the home planet of his people, brought low by the Empire—to make up for his transgressions. He was exiled from his fanatical cult for removing his helmet, something we learned was not practiced by the wider Mandalorian population when Mando meets Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff) but it seems he has a long road ahead of him to uncover the truth.

The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together,” the Season 3 logline reads.

I’m definitely excited for the eight-episode third season which drops on March 1st on Disney+, but I’m also curious to see how it stacks up now that Andor has raised the bar on Star Wars content so very, very high. Before Andor, The Mandalorian was easily the best Star Wars since the original trilogy. Now . . . it’s still the most fun, but Andor is on another level entirely.

Still, I’m plenty hyped to see what’s in store. I was a little bummed out that they retconned Baby Yoda’s Luke story arc and had him return to Mando so quickly during Boba Fett, but there’s no denying the appeal of Daddy Mando and Baby Yoda as a power team.
