‘Tell Me Lies’ Is Hulu’s Next Must-Watch, Very Addictive Drama

Hulu’s upcoming drama Tell Me Lies centers around the tumultuous and passionate relationship between Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco (Grace Van Patten and Jackson White). The two meet in college, and the story follows the pair over eight years.

Based on Carola Lovering’s bestselling novel of the same name, the 10-episode season will premiere on Wednesday, September 7, with three episodes, and new episodes will stream weekly.

It all begins when Lucy starts her freshman year at Baird College. During Welcome Week, she meets Stephen, and an unexpected event turns her life upside down.

At first, their relationship appears like many that start at that age. There’s the undeniable passion and drama commonplace during those formative years, but each makes decisions along the way that lead to irreversible consequences. Their relationship soon becomes an addictive, life-changing entanglement that permanently affects their lives and everyone around them.

Tell Me Lies is a twisted, sexy and gripping love story and as dramatic as it is, it’s also relatable in many ways. It will take you back to that all-encompassing and exhilarating feeling of first love and all the emotions involved in navigating those whirlwind feelings. And for Lucy, it’s incredibly intense as she’s left home for the first time and is learning to be on her own.

Lucy and Stephen each have family dilemmas to contend with, and though, in many ways, their struggles are similar, they have different ways of managing their lives. Things are messy and complicated for both, and their love is challenged as certain secrets come to light.

Lucy is happy to be far away from her mother, whom she’s never forgiven for an act of betrayal in her early teen years. She’s young and innocent when she first meets Stephen.

He’s the popular man on campus and is equal parts charming, confident and sexy. He also has a dark side. He’s complicated, dishonest and haunted by an incident in his past that could destroy him.

Though she suspects she shouldn’t trust him, she cannot pull herself away. This is a tale of what happens when you fall in love with someone who isn’t necessarily the right person for you. As we know, the heart wants what the heart wants.

The story follows the two throughout college and into their post-college lives in New York City. Letting go is painful, even when you know you have to. Will Lucy and Stephen move on from one another, or will their paths cross again and bring them back together?

Rounding out this fantastic cast are Catherine Missal, Spencer House, Sonia Mena, Branden Cook, Benjamin Wadsworth, and Alicia Crowder.

Meaghan Oppenheimer serves as executive producer and showrunner. Emma Roberts and Karah Preiss executive produce under their Belletrist Productions banner along with Matt Matruski. Laura Lewis and Stephanie Noonan executive produce for Rebelle Media. VICE Studios’ Shannon Gibson and Sam Schlaifer executive produce for Vice-owned Refinery29. Jonathan Levine also serves as executive producer and pilot director. Lovering serves as a consulting producer.
