Pantera Announce A Slew Of U.S. Headlining Shows For 2023

While they’re currently on tour and performing in front of festival crowds in South America, Pantera has finally announced their first round of 2023 headlining performances taking place in the U.S. Prior to the recent news that they’ll be direct support for Metallica’s upcoming world tour, the Pantera reunion had initially announced shows only for European and South American markets.

For many fans it seemed odd that the band was leaving out North America provided that’s where the band got its start, and not to mention there’s been considerably high demand in the states ever since the reunion was announced. However, this was likely because Pantera were waiting for the U.S. Summer festival lineups to get announced, as Pantera is predicted to be a main attraction for 2023’s rock summer festival circuit.

For starts, earlier this week Pantera were announced as the main headliner for Cadott, Wisconsin’s Rock Fest, taking place July 13th & 15th, in addition to Virginia’s Blue Ridge Rock Festival slated for September of next year. Prior to today’s news, these festival announcements marked Pantera’s first U.S. headlining performances for the 2023, but given the mid to late summer time frame of these particular festivals it seemed doubtful that these were the only dates the reunion had in the works.

Where things to start to get interesting is with the today’s announcment — Pantera will be performing at Danny Wimmer Presents’ Welcome to Rockville in May 2023. Not only is this big news as it marks the reunion’s earliest headlining performance here in the states for 2023, but as initially predicted it proves the Pantera reunion was destined to be a main event for U.S. summer rock festivals, specifically within the DWP brand which is one of if not, the largest rock festival curator in the U.S.

While DWP has only revealed their lineup for Daytona Beach’s Rockville, I’d wager that Pantera is very likely slated to be a headliner at one or more of the other DWP festivals next year. Rockville just so happens to be the first festival in DWP’s annual summer circuit, and provided the previous years where DWP has rotated headliners between it’s different markets, it’s very possible they’ll be doing the same with Pantera and other headliners for next year.
