Metaverse Standards Forum. What Is This, Now?

  • The definition of the metaverse is not universally accepted. This means we need to have a global description of the term to understand it better.
  • Khronos Group, which is entirely non-profit and has a team count of 150+ members, is managing and developing open standards existing under a lot of technologies that are very helpful and utilizable to the world.
  • This Metaverse Standards Forum, commonly known as MSF, is the project started by Khronos as a collaborative body.

Advancing the world of the metaverse

Metaverse is the thing that is growing with such a speed no one ever thought was possible. There are a lot of controversies surrounding the topic: what is metaverse?

While many people define the term as a platform, an application, or a state of time where your virtual self becomes more important than your physical self.

We know one thing: The definition of the metaverse is not universally accepted. This means we need to have a global description of the term to understand it better.

Anyways, even though most people disagree on the clarity of the definition, many companies are becoming more and more cooperative, eventually becoming interoperable. What?

According to sources, some of the best names in the tech companies are coming together to collaborate to make this world deep dive into the metaverse; these companies are:

  • Microsoft
  • Epic Games
  • Adobe
  • Nvidia

Ever head of Khronos Group? Of course, you did. This organization is entirely non-profit and has a team count of 150+ members. Is managing and developing open standards.

The Collaboration

These open standards exist under many technologies that are very helpful and utilizable to the world at present. These technologies include:

  • OpenGL
  • Vulkan
  • Few play use in the background of Video games

“A truly successful standard become so ubiquitous, you forget that it’s a standard at all,” Khronos president Neil Trevett tells the press.

That’s been the goal for standards that the group has developed in gaming and those in other fields like extended reality (or XR), machine learning, and 3D design.

So, the Metaverse Standards Forum aims at what Trevette refers to as “connectivity and spatial computing”: the connection and interaction between natural objects and virtual worlds.

So, this all makes sense. Right?

The organization wants to be involved in the metaverse.

This metaverse standards forum, commonly known as MSF, is the project started by Khronos as a collaborative body.

This is not a formal organization. This is a venue for cooperation existing between organizations and companies.

The main goal behind this forum is to help develop new tools for the metaverse.

Now, it is exciting to know how much we are advancing and updating ourselves in the metaverse world, even though we don’t know what the term means.
