Meta Has Scheduled Meta Connect Conference for October 11, 2022

Meta has published an announcement to share the news that it will be virtually hosting Meta Connect on October 11, 2022. The one-day event will be open for all the developers and creators, who will also be able to access on-demand sessions after the event has concluded.

An overall agenda of the virtual event is to show how the metaverse is being built and how important it is to collaborate for the growth of the metaverse. More details about the event are awaited, including the list of speakers.

Meta Connect looks to explore the opportunity to build a metaverse and discuss the future of virtual reality and augmented reality. While the list of speakers is yet to be announced, it is sure that many industry leaders will take center stage to share their insights with the community.

The virtual event will mainly look to cover the sessions on the latest technologies involved in building the metaverse.

Meta Connect is organized to build an environment that brings people closer to establishing deeper connections through new experiences. Meta Connect on October 11, 2022, will be the second version of the virtual event. It was hosted under the name Oculus Connect before the rebranding of Facebook to Meta.

A few pointers that are expected to be rolled in the event are:-

  • Release of the new VR headset; and,
  • Announcements regarding the growth of the virtual world.

The new VR headset, Oculus Pro, will likely be launched during Meta Connect. The estimated final price of the headset could be around $400. The next generation headset will enhance the users’ experience while engaging with others in the virtual world. Call it a step forward in the digital era as it is all set to create a benchmark for others to surpass.

Oculus Pro comes loaded with eye-tracking and face-tracking features, with the community expecting the introduction of mimicking facial expressions. Virtual avatars will not be a bot and could look a lot like real humans. Distance will not matter anymore, and the connections will indeed deepen, something that Meta has attempted to do with its social media platform – Facebook.

What comes as an advanced social platform is Horizon Worlds, a VR-based social platform that was earlier released in the U.S, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, and Spain. Horizon Worlds is long overdue for expansion after the team shared its vision of providing tools to users and allowing them to sell items in the virtual world.

Assuming the tools are ready, they could come up during the Meta Connect with various new safety tools.

Meta has also been digging into the NFT space with an attempt to integrate digital artwork with Instagram and Facebook. There lies a lot of potential for digital creators and online sellers; however, whether it comes up in the event or not remains a question.
