Martin Shkreli’s Lawyer Hired to Represent 100 million USD NJ deli Defendants

Martin Shkreli’s Lawyer

On Tuesday, in a new court filing it was disclosed that the defendant in the popular case of New Jersey deli Peter Coker Sr. hired “pharma bro” Martin Shkreli’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo. Coker Sr. is facing charges of multiple counts that include securities fraud, conspiracy and money laundering.

The US Justice Department filed criminal charges against Coker Sr. along with other defendants including Peter Coker Jr. and James Patten. The defendants are dealing with the charges over allegedly pumping up a scheme which is said to have relatively small value. This was a publicly traded company and said to have only a small town named New Jersey deli on its name.

Complex Criminal Lawyer into the Case

Recently, it was seen that the main defendant in the case went on to hire Marc Agnifilo. The latter is famous for dealing with some of the popular cases including case of Martin Shkreli—famously known as pharma bro, former hollywood tycoon and convicted sex criminal Harvey Weinstein, cult leader of NXIVM Keith Raniere, and several others.

Now Agnifilo is likely to represent Coker Sr. in the case against the US financial watchdog Securities and Exchange Commission. Given the fact that the SEC filed a lawsuit alleging him and two other men—including his son—of manipulating the market.

Hometown International, the company under the possession of Coker Sr., is said to achieve a significant valuation of about 100 million USD by the end of last year. The company managed to generate the valuation in an over the counter market. The valuation came as a surprise given the fact that the annual sales of the deli itself is even less than 40,000 USD.

Representing the case of Martin Shkreli

Agnifilo represented former pharmaceuticals executive Martin Shkreli who walked out of the jail this year itself. He was convicted in 2017 for his involvement in a securities fraud and the very next year was sentenced for imprisonment.

Martin Shkreli dubbed as the “pharma bro” for defending the price hike of Daraprim—a prominent life-saving drug—which rose over 4,000% just overnight way back in the year 2015.
