Manchester City’s Crazy Asking Price For Bernardo Silva FC Barcelona Transfer

Manchester City have named their crazy asking price for Bernardo Silva to join FC Barcelona.

The Portuguese international would like to leave City in the current summer transfer window for personal reasons, with Barca his dream club.

After five years in the Premier League he feels like his cycle has finished in England. Unfortunately for him, however, despite Pep Guardiola saying “I don’t want players that don’t want to be with us” when announcing an August friendly between the two clubs on Monday, it seems Silva’s current employers will not make his exit easy.

This is due to the high price tag the Abu Dhabi-backed giants have allegedly put on their man according to TV3.

On Tuesday, their reporter Xavi Torres claims that the 27-year-old’s starting price ranges “between €85 and 95 million euros ($90-$100mn)”, which will be some push for the Blaugrana given their current debts circling the $1.5bn mark.

SPORT say that Barca are aware of the difficulty of the operation, which they have dubbed “impossible” for now despite the intent of the player to swap the Etihad for Camp Nou.

President Joan Laporta and his board are willing to make an important effort for Silva and have a good relationship with his agent Jorge Mendes. But his arrival in Catalonia is “very complicated” as things stand while those who could afford such a monstrous fee with the click of their fingers, namely Paris Saint Germain, lurk in the background with rumored interest in snapping Silva away.

Silva, however, who has already played in France where City paid Monaco €50mn ($53mn) plus €30mn ($32mn) in variables for his services in 2017, wants to be closer to his homeland Portugal which makes Barca his top priority choice.

Mendes has promised to push hard so that his client can have his wishes fulfilled, but he sees little bargaining room with City while the English top flight champions are not interested in any Barca player that could lower the asking price in a part exchange deal.

These developments could see Frenkie de Jong, wanted by Manchester United, stay after all or find the Dutchman sold to raise funds.
