Friday, June 24th Solution And Hints

TGIF—thank the gods it’s Freya’s day. One more day until the sweet respite of the weekend.

I’m mostly better from my little affair with COVID-19. Just that residual cold stuff—a little extra snotty, mostly. Mildly bitter with a dash of grouchy. All that rot.

The other bit of good news from my neck of the woods—where a human-caused wildfire burned up vast swaths of the mountain—is that monsoon season has begun and we’re getting daily rain at last.

In any case, today’s Wordle is a bit of a tricky one so let’s take a look, shall we? Read on for a Wordle primer or skip ahead for today’s hint and answer!

How To Play Wordle

Wordle is a pretty straightforward game. First, head to the game’s homepage at the New York Times (it’s not an app on the App Store or Google Play, though there are many imitators).

Once here, you’ll find six rows of five boxes. These represent your six guesses. Type in a word and hit ‘Enter’ and any correct letters you get will show up in colored boxes: Green if it’s in the right spot, yellow if it’s in the wrong spot. If a box is grey that means the letter is not in the solution.

Today’s Wordle #370 Hint & Answer

There are spoilers ahead! Beware! Beware of the spoilers! They’re coming to take you away, haha!

First, a hint: If you were a wrathful god, you might do this to heathens and miscreants from time to time.

And the answer is . . . .

This one took me a bit to figure out despite getting three correct letters—one green and two yellow—in my very first guess.

And what a first guess! I’m proud of this one. Skein means “a length of thread or yarn, loosely coiled and knotted” though it’s not a word you hear often in day-to-day conversation. It narrowed the total possibilities down from 2,309 to just 14—unlike crane which, for today’s word, would have left 102. Take that, Wordle Bot!

From here things went a little . . . more slowly. Sieve took me from 14 to 10 remaining solutions. I sliced off five more solutions with guess #3 but was left with far too many for comfort (though at the time, I didn’t realize just how precarious a position I was in).

Spire left with me two possible solutions and two guesses, but fortunately I only needed one more to get it right, with smite. And thus I smote today’s Wordle like a boss. The other possible solution was suite but I’m more of a smite guy than a suite guy.

Still, kind of a tough word today with all the possible ways this could go! Happy Friday, dearest Wordlers! Have a great weekend!
