Bayern Munich Reject Latest FC Barcelona Transfer Offer For Lewandowski

Bayern Munich have rejected FC Barcelona’s latest offer for their star striker Robert Lewandowski, according to reports from Germany.

The Poland captain is the Blagrauna’s top transfer target and is trying to force a move to the Catalans with just one year left on his contract in Bavaria.

Bayern had previously been unwilling to entertain the prospect of selling their second all-time top scorer. Yet it was claimed at the weekend that the Bundesliga giants are now willing to negotiate the potential move with their La Liga rivals.

Sky said that Bayern wanted to set off from €50mn in talks with Barca. And according to BIL

on Thursday, they have rejected a third offer from president Joan Laporta and his board for €40mn and additional money in variables.

With Barca already battling debts of around $1.5bn, the figure is already more than Barca are prepared to spend on a player that will turn 34 on August 21 and will soon have less than 12 months to run on his current deal.

But it seems that if Barca really want the talisman, who last moved on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2013, they will have to pay the price that Bayern want for him.

Barca could raise money by selling Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United for a fee believed to be €65mn plus extra cash in add-ons that will take the final figure above €85mn.

As relayed by SPORT on Wednesday, however, the Dutchman wants to stay put at Camp Nou and prove himself as a Barca legend.

He is effectively refusing to join the Red Devils, who while managed by his former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag, can’t offer him Champions League football next season.

Other top targets for Barca other than Lewandowski include Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva and Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.

With winger Ousmane Dembele a free agent as of today, June 30, Raphinha had also been fancied for the right flank.

In the meantime, however, Chelsea have hijacked Barca’s attempts to land the Brazil star and have already made a considerable offer to his current club Leeds United.
