Bayern Munich Lead Seven Clubs Interested In Signing FC Barcelona Star Ansu Fati

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are the club that has shown the most interest in signing FC Barcelona star Ansu Fati from a total seven European rivals, according to a report.

On Friday, it was claimed that Manchester United were interested in acquiring the 20-year-old number ’10’, who is currently spending more time on the bench than featuring for Xavi Hernandez’s La Liga-leading first team.

The youngster’s plight hasn’t gone unnoticed continent-wide according to Mundo Deportivo, however, which says on Saturday that Bayern Munich have registered the most interest in the Guinea-Bissau-born sensation.

North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are also said to be keeping their ears to the ground when it comes to Fati, who burst onto the scene as a prodigious 16-year-old in 2019 under Ernesto Valverde.

It is now starting to be muttered by many fans that Fati hasn’t been the same since that time, when he shattered a number of youngest goalscorer and appearance maker records, or after he suffered two knee injuries that kept him on the sidelines for months at the turn of the decade.

With a contract that runs until 2027, Fati would still be able to demand a reasonable transfer fee and it is expected that Barca will have to make a big player sale due to La Liga president Javier Tebas revealing this week that they are exceeding wage bill limits by €200mn ($218mn) ahead of the 2023/2024 season.

Earlier on Saturday, though, Xavi poured cold water on Manchester United’s supposed interest in Fati and that of any other clubs ahead of his team taking on Sevilla at Camp Nou tomorrow evening.

“No, no, no… Things will work out for him,” Xavi insisted.

“We have to be patient. Ansu is a spectacular asset to the club. We trust him a lot, he is working very well. I am very happy with his tremendous mentality in training, but be patient.

“He is 20 years old and needs time, like everyone else. Things will work out for him, now is not the time to talk about sales,” Xavi added.

With Barca’s financial predicament and Fati’s form what they are, however, it remains to be seen whether there will be a change of tune on the Spain international in the summer.

First and foremost, however, the Catalans should perhaps look to offload Ferran Torres and Eric Garcia first if they can before doing something rash with a player once deemed the future of the club before the likes of Gavi and Pedri emerged.
