While Bitcoin and Ethereum broke new records in 2025, many altcoins still could not break new records.
At this point, some analysts argue that the major altcoin season has not started, while others argue that we are currently in an altcoin season and that the old altcoin rallies will not occur.
One of them was Bitget Chief Operating Officer (COO) Bugar Ushi Zade.
Speaking at the Token2049 conference in Singapore, Bitget COO said that the anticipated altcoin season is unlikely to arrive.
Noting that many investors are now focusing on narrower trends or solely on Bitcoin, Zade stated that it is unlikely that cryptocurrency markets will see an altcoin season where “everything will go up.”
Stating that the expected explosive rises in altcoins are difficult, the famous name said that the market cycle structure has now changed.
“I don’t think there will be an altcoin season. The phenomenon of all assets going up just because it’s an altcoin season will no longer happen.”
At this point, Bitget COO said that because the crypto market is no longer trading in a way compatible with Bitcoin, the market has moved too far away from seasonal cycles and now has shorter, more frequent cycles.
Zade also stated that Bitcoin and altcoins are not moving in harmony and that he has no hope for the old altcoin seasons where there were big increases.
“Bitcoin is a bull on its own; its impact on the rest of the market is almost zero.
Because Bitcoin broke away not only from the stock market but also from altcoins.
We have seen many examples where only Bitcoin was in the green at this point and then the entire market turned red.
Money is no longer flowing from Bitcoin to altcoins.”
