Today, the international community of museum professionals We Are Museums and the German team dedicated to advancing the Tezos ecosystem called TZ Connect jointly announced the launch of a new program dubbed WAC Fellowship.
What Is the WAC Fellowship?
Short for Web3 for the Arts and Culture, the WAC Fellowship will commence on April 18. The initiative is designed in a way that encourages arts and culture professionals via the exciting opportunities provided by Web3 innovations.
Notably, the launch of WAC Fellowship comes shortly after the success of WAC Weekly, a weekly discussion program launched in December last year.
The WAC Fellowship is an 8-week long program powered by the Tezos ecosystem. The WAC Fellowship aims to help individuals learn about Web3 and build a project for the arts and culture from the ground up. These can include intensive, immersive, educational programs, mentorships, and hands-on sessions.
At large, the WAC Fellowship will focus on three key areas, i.e., how arts and culture institutions can use Web3 technology to further their mission for social good; the ways institutions can include Web3 in their commitment to environmental justice; and Web3 as a navigation tool through the financial crisis weighing down on the culture sector.
From April 18 onwards, the WAC Fellowship will offer a comprehensive body of knowledge and new practices. The WAC Fellowship will cover the basics of blockchain combined with a set of hands-on and future-thinking sessions to identify new use-cases.
The WAC Fellowship is composed of the following:
- Training on NFTs, DAOs, encryption, DeFi, consensus mechanisms, oracles, and more.
- Workshop on the futures of the Web3 in Culture and Arts: a UNESCO-inspired Futures Literacy Lab in collaboration with MOTI Foundation.
- Blockchain tech reality check: everything that is and isn’t possible
- One-to-one mentoring sessions with technologists and strategists
- Weekly informal conversations where fellows meet the people shaping the space today, in collaboration with Blockchain Art Directory 2.0.
- Access to resources including the latest press reviews, ecosystem mapping, a knowledge library with tutorials and useful links and bibliographies, and an open-source library to develop new projects, in collaboration with Blockchain Art Directory 2.0.
How to Apply for the WAC Fellowship?
Interested individuals can apply for the WAC Fellowship program from here. It’s worthy of note that the deadline for applications is April 4 at noon UTC.
Further, on March 28 at 4 pm UTC, a detailed informational event will be organized to introduce the WAC Fellowship in a lot more detail. The event is also a good opportunity to get any of your questions answered.
The introduction will be followed by a creative “Idea Lab” to brainstorm new Web3 use cases for arts and culture institutions. If you’re interested in joining the event, register here.
