Solana (SOL) Founder Anatoly Yakovenko Criticizes Rival Altcoin: “Five Years Have Passed, They Still Can’t Figure It Out!”

Remarkable statements came from Solana (SOL) co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko, known for his sharp and bold statements in the cryptocurrency market.

Targeting Ethereum this time, the Solana founder questioned Ethereum (ETH) Layer 2 networks.

Questioning whether Ethereum’s security and decentralization are preserved at Layer 2, Yakovenko stated that the claim that Ethereum Layer-2 networks have inherited the security of Layer-1 networks is “completely unfounded.”

Yakovenko made these comments during a discussion with users at X about issues with Layer 2 solutions.

The Solana founder emphasized that layer 2s have significant weaknesses in terms of security and decentralization, and that user funds can be controlled through multi-signature arrangements.

Yakovenko also added that the sheer scale of their code makes auditing nearly impossible.

“The claim that Layer 2 inherits Ethereum’s security is false.

Layer 2 makes full security audits impossible due to a large attack surface and complex code structures.

Layer 2 networks rely on multi-signature-based storage, so funds can be moved without user approval.

“It’s been 5 years since Layer 2 was introduced, but its problems are still unresolved.”
