- Aiden Pleterski was reportedly kidnapped and beaten in late December 2022
- AP Private Equity Limited owes millions of dollars to over 150 investors.
Aiden Pleterski, a 23-year-old bankrupt self-proclaimed crypto king of Canada, was allegedly kidnapped and tortured by kidnappers during the last quarter of 2022. Aiden was one of Ontario, Canada’s youngest crypto millionaires.
According to a local Canadian media outlet Aiden was ‘kidnapped’ from Toronto in December and was held hostage by kidnappers. According to his father and associates, the kidnappers demanded an alleged $3 million ransom.
Details of the kidnapping were revealed in a court filing concerning a bankruptcy proceeding involving millions of dollars Platorski allegedly spent millions of dollars in affording a lavish lifestyle rather than investing.
In December, Aiden’s father, who was not identified, said, “The kidnappers held Aiden for 3 days, drove him around different parts of southern Ontario, beat him, tortured him, and permitted him to make specified calls which can pay for his release.”
According to a court filing of 750 pages, Aiden was allegedly running a crypto investment company, AP Private Equity Limited. The document also alleges that the 23-year-old crypto investor owns 11 private vehicles, including two McLaren, two BMWs, and a Lamborghini.
The filing also reveals that Aiden regularly rented luxury cars and a private jet for his vacations. Notably, over 150 investors collectively invested over $20 million in AP Private Equity Limited, which Aiden owns. Still, the investors are battling legally against Aiden with the help of Norman Groot, a popular fraud recovery lawyer.
Norman, the recovery lawyer, said, “ It is not clear enough where investors’ funds have gone, but it is quite clear that the funds have much to do with his luxury lifestyle.”
The bankruptcy filing highlights that besides self-owned property Aiden was renting a sea-facing house in Burlington for around $45,000 monthly. He also owns 6 to 7 premium watches worth between $200,000 and $400,000.
The government authorities have seized properties worth $2.2 million, including luxury cars, cash, Bank draft, Jewellery, and other physical assets. Although the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario declared Aiden and his company bankrupt.
Aiden owns a McLaren Senna limited edition premium hypercar with a market value of around $1,050,000. The hypercar is among the limited edition cars manufactured for special operations; the company manufactured 16 cars to date.
It is natural that if some specified product or field starts to become popular, then the risk of fraud and other illegal activities increases. The same situation is with the crypto sector. In the last few years, crypto has become quite popular and made many become multimillionaires. Some major events that stirred the entire crypto industry in the previous two-three are TerraUSD- Luna collapse, Celsius bankruptcy, BlockFi Bankruptcy, and the most recent and major FTX failure.
