The asset is also West Virginia and Maryland’s third most searched cryptocurrency.
Shiba Inu (SHIB) has earned the fourth spot as the most searched digital currency in the United States, according to a recent study by crypto specialists from Cryptomeister, a digital asset education resource.
The study analyzed Google Trends data to determine the top five cryptocurrencies that each state in America wants to invest in based on search queries. Besides ranking fourth overall, Shiba Inu ranked as the third most searched term in West Virginia and Maryland. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin in most states only overtake SHIB.
Besides the Cryptomeister study, previous research from DollarGeek, a personal finance resource, revealed that Shiba Inu was the second most searched cryptocurrency in the United States in 2022, only below Bitcoin. According to the study, Americans made an average of 1.29 million monthly searches for Shiba Inu last year. The asset was also ranked third globally, below BTC and DOGE.
Shiba Inu Sees Massive Demand
This massive interest in the asset is a potential driver for investor demand. Binance disclosed last December that the asset ranked top three among the most-watched assets on the exchange of 2022, along with BTC and ETH.
Moreover, The Crypto Basic revealed that over 1.8 million CoinMarketCap users had Shiba Inu on their watchlist. Accordingly, SHIB ranks as the third biggest single holding by the top 100 ETH whales.
Accordingly, demand for Shiba Inu has seen an uptick recently, evidenced by the rapid surge in whale accumulation. The asset’s sixth biggest holder was recently reported to have augmented their bag with 89 billion more tokens. Last week, another whale amassed up to 117 billion tokens in one fell swoop.

As the asset garners global attention, several exchanges have decided to leverage this trend by listing its sister tokens, especially Bone ShibaSwap (BONE). Prominent crypto exchange Gate.io was the latest to list BONE. Lending platform CoinRabbit also disclosed plans to list BONE next week and support the upcoming Shibarium.
