SEC Comm’r Hester Peirce Lists Crypto Task Force Members

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced the members of the Crypto Task Force staff, which is advising the Commission on matters related to crypto. Notably, the task force is composed of staff from the Acting Chairman’s office and other divisions and offices across the Commission.

According to the official announcement, SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce commented, “The Crypto Task Force exhibits deep expertise and an enthusiastic commitment to identifying–with the help of other talented staff across the Commission and interested members of the public–workable solutions to difficult crypto regulatory problems.”

The SEC’s new crypto task force is created to establish clear regulatory guidelines, realistic registration paths, sensible disclosure frameworks, and effective enforcement strategies. The task force aligns with Commissioner Peirce’s views, who has criticized Gary Gensler’s driven SEC’s past approach and advocated for industry input in policy-making. The task force will seek feedback from investors, industry participants, and academics through roundtables and the SEC’s crypto email address.

Recently the crypto task force was in news for holding meetings with representatives from Chia Network Inc. and Better Markets to discuss cryptocurrency regulation and strategies to combat fraud in the crypto space.
