Usually, it’s been seen that the economic and financial sector is considered male-dominated, but in Australia, the scenario seems different
In Australia, women are investing more and at a higher rate than men in bitcoin and cryptocurrencies exchanges, and it’s a first-of-a-kind incident. New reports by an Australian bitcoin and cryptocurrency firm BTC Markets showed that there was a rise of almost 175 % in female crypto users in the last fiscal year that overpowered the increase that male users showed at the rate of 80%.
In terms of initial deposits, female users have left behind the male crypto users were on average female crypto users invested initially $2,381 while males initially deposited in crypto about $2,060 on an average. However, it’s not like males did not perform anywhere better than females; in terms of trading frequency, male users remain far ahead of female investors.
On average, male users traded approximately five times a day while female users had twice a day rate of trading, which is less than males in comparison. The report analyzes metadata on the platform of BTC crypto exchange for the earlier financial year, suggesting that females had a trading strategy that was more structured and had a smaller range of focused positions.
A similar report also found that the size of the portfolio of female users on the BTC platform was around $400 less than what male users had. It further stated that women investors seem more likely towards self custody when compared to males in terms of playing with risk opposing strategies.
It stated that deduction or the results came out on the basis of initial deposits, in addition to trading activity that was then coupled with the size of the average portfolio on the exchange. With the involvement of more women in the industry. It would become more representative in order to be the investment community. In return, it would advance its reputation, which it has for now as an asset class that can sit parallel to other traditional investments. One more thing that women trading in cryptocurrency would do is dismiss the common notion that crypto investors are some risk takers or risk lovers. It would generalize it as yet another way or medium of investing.
Gradually, the crypto space, which was once seen as a male-dominated area, has not gained mainstream appeal.
