The main hashrate marketplace, NiceHash, is proud to announce the first Bitcoin conference ever held in Maribor, NiceHashX, offering an interesting and little-known entry point to the European crypto market. Nicknamed the “Bitcoin Conference on the Sunny Side of the Alps,” the event will be held in Maribor for two days, on November 8 and 9, commemorating a decade of activity for the hashrate marketplace founded by two Slovenian students in 2014.

One of the main objectives of the conference is to encourage people to consider Maribor and Slovenia in general as a hub for Bitcoin. Over 1,000 companies in the Central European country already accept BTC as payment, and the event will highlight several local businesses in Maribor that actively use the technology. In fact, one of the stages of the event will be dedicated to presenting these local companies.

“We are pleased to welcome the world to discover how Slovenia is leading the adoption of Bitcoin in Europe,” says Vladimir Hozjan, CEO of NiceHash. “With 10 years of experience in this sector, we have witnessed a phenomenal growth of interest in the use of Bitcoin, here in Maribor and throughout the country. Join us to celebrate and see Bitcoin in its purest form, used by ordinary people, along with some of the brightest speakers in the sector.”

The conference boasts an impressive lineup of speakers, including prominent figures such as Saifedean Ammous, author of “The Bitcoin Standard”; former Cointelegraph reporter Joe Hall (Nakamoto); the CEO of the BTC Prague conference, Martin Kuchař; the co-founder of the Bitcoin FilmFest, Pierre Corbin; the CTO of CASA, Jameson Lopp; and many others. Among the topics of discussion are the adoption and regulation of Bitcoin in Europe, the landscape of mining and energy, and the future of exchanges in the era of increasing regulation.

The participants will be able to enjoy an exciting exhibition area, three main stages, and numerous side events, including an official after-party with a VIP dinner and a musical show. Additionally, NiceHash has launched a preview of a BTC payment solution with local merchants that will be demonstrated during the conference and in the surrounding city.

Located at the foot of the Pohorje mountains, a popular ski destination, and with the vine-cultivated hills nearby, Maribor is a charming destination for visitors, known for its breathtaking architecture, cozy cafes, and relaxed atmosphere. It was named European Capital of Culture in 2012.

Often overlooked on the European scene, Slovenia has the second highest number of blockchain startups after Switzerland and a very high per capita Bitcoin adoption rate. The country boasts numerous Bitcoin-themed locations in Slovenian cities, such as BTC City in Ljubljana and the Satoshi monument. The many businesses that already accept Bitcoin include restaurants, hotels, cafes, supermarkets, and more, while the number of Slovenian crypto users is expected to reach 385,700 by 2028, almost 20% of the population.
