As the crypto economy wobbles into deep water, it seems the trend where investors who once favored cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin(BTC), is coming to an end, believes one realtor.
Clynton Nel, a Residential Director at London agency JOHNS&CO., in an article published in The Negotiator on June 17, noted that the volatility in other markets shows that real estate investments continue to be a solid investment option.
Nel pointed out that despite experiencing its busiest rental period on record, the rebound of the real estate sector from the pandemic is significant. On the contrary, the director also mentioned that Bitcoin fell to an 18-month low last month while the top altcoin, Ethereum, dropped by a third of its value following the recent crypto crash.
Further, he states that property too gets affected due to the global geopolitical issues and has seen both highs and lows over the years, but it still has less dependency on the strength of investor sentiment in comparison to other asset classes.
What Makes Property Still An Attractive Investment?
Property could be both a source of wealth and a source of income for investors in addition to being a tangible asset, as per the Residential Director. Moreover, he also doesn’t think that Bitcoin as an “invisible” production has an influence on the investor opinion.
In addition, he notes that property has come out stronger from “one of the most challenging periods of the generation,” making it the safest, most sensible, and highly beneficial asset in comparison to other assets in the current time.
Houses are the basic need of individuals, which is not going to change. In London specifically, it’s not going to change as the demand is far more than the supply. Nel further argues that the housing crisis, too, will remain. The situation seems inescapable as following the pandemic, more people entered the capital, and housebuilders struggled to fulfill the tendency.
Moreover, the real estate industry is known for its proper regulation and transparency to the public. In the UK’s property market, there is a strong regulatory structure present; however it hasn’t been established for other asset classes like crypto.
