If you love crypto, there’s a good chance you love high-stakes poker too — same mindset, same risk, same rewards. And if you’ve spent any time on CoinPoker, you’ll know the action can get seriously wild.
In this one, I’m breaking down three ridiculous hands from a recent heads-up match between Pr0digy and Kayhan Mokri, two of the best in the game right now.
Who Is Pr0digy?
Pr0digy, aka Owen Messere, is a British high-stakes poker pro known for his aggressive playstyle and deep understanding of the game. He gained significant recognition after winning CoinPoker’s inaugural Cash Game World Championship, securing a profit of $590,000 and a $50,000 Rolex Daytona Ghost.
Pr0digy has also made headlines for his impressive victories against top players. In a notable match, he defeated Doug Polk for $188,600. His consistent performance in high-stakes games has solidified his reputation as one of the elite players in the online poker community.
Who Is Kayhan Mokri?
Kayhan Mokri is a Norwegian poker professional who has made a name for himself in high-stakes tournaments. He recently finished third in the €25K EPT High Roller at Monte Carlo, earning €559,200. Mokri is known for his strategic play and ability to navigate complex situations at the table.
Hand 1: The Double Check-Raise From Hell
Early on, Pr0digy picks up K♦6♠, flops top two pair on K♥6♥3♠, and goes for the sneaky line. He checks, sets the hook, then fires in the big check-raise on the turn once the draws appear. Mokri takes the bait, the stacks go in, and it’s a brutal fold for Kayhan. Perfectly played hand by Pr0digy — that’s how you build a pot when you’re miles ahead.
Hand 2: The Bluff With No Hope
This next one’s pure Mokri chaos. He decides to go for it on 8♥7♣2♦ with K♠5♠ — no pair, no draw, no hope. He barrels flop, bets turn, jams river. Thing is… Pr0digy’s sitting there with K♣K♥. Just sat back, letting Kayhan light his stack on fire. Snap call, goodbye. Textbook from Pr0digy — patience, discipline, and the easiest call of his life.
Hand 3: Shared Straight, Stolen Pot
Final one, and it’s nasty. Both players have 10♥9♦ vs. 10♠9♠ on a K♣Q♠J♣ board — both flop the 2nd nuts. Money’s flying in. But Mokri’s got the suits working, turns a flush draw, and rivers the flush to steal three-quarters of the pot (they ran it twice).
Rough one for Pr0digy, who basically got rivered with the same hand as his opponent. That’s poker sometimes.
