Iran Pays For $10 Million Import with Crypto – Trustnodes

Iran has paid for $10 million worth of goods with crypto, making this the first time crypto is used at state level for trade.

Iran’s Deputy Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade, Alireza Peyman Pak, said:

“This week, the first official import order registration with crypto currency worth 10 million dollars was successfully completed,” Pak said before adding:

“By the end of September, the use of cryptocurrencies and smart contracts will be widespread in foreign trade with target countries.”

We asked for clarification, including what are the target countries, which crypto was used, what was imported and from where. Will update if a response is received.

Iran changed the law in October 2020 to use crypto to pay for imports, with the first purchase now completed.
