Developer activity remains a critical signal for long-term viability in crypto—and this past week’s GitHub stats reveal which projects are pushing ahead under the hood.
Cardano took the lead in weekly project-level commits, recording 354 updates, followed by Ethereum with 190 and Hedera with 162. Internet Computer and Chainlink rounded out the top five, showing continued momentum in core protocol development.
Mina Protocol stood out with a notable 53% rise in commits compared to the previous month, suggesting renewed focus from its development team. Chainlink also saw an uptick in both commits and developer participation, reinforcing its position among actively evolving networks.
At the ecosystem level, Ethereum remains unmatched in developer engagement, logging over 87,000 commits in the past week. Despite a slight drop in activity—down 5% in commits and 7% in contributor count—Ethereum still dominates.
Meanwhile, Skale is emerging as a technical growth story. With over 18,000 commits, the project has seen a 33% rise in development activity over the past three months. Cosmos, Solana, and Polkadot also registered solid ecosystem contributions but at significantly lower volumes than Ethereum.
As the market chases price highs, these behind-the-scenes indicators provide a clearer view of which projects are building for the long haul.
