Former FTX US president is looking to raise capital for new crypto venture

The former FTX US president, Brett Harrison, is currently in talks with potential investors about his new crypto startup.

Harrison, who resigned from his position at the crypto exchange in September, is looking to raise capital for his new crypto trading software venture, two people with direct knowledge of the matter told The Information.

According to the sources, a former FTX US executive is attempting to raise $6 million at a $60 million valuation.

Wrong kind of attention

The FTX collapse has brought the wrong kind of attention to the people associated with the company.

Though the focus has been mostly on former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried and people in his inner circle, like Alameda CEO Caroline Ellison, Harrison’s efforts have been slowed down because of the news.

Many firms have since been bracing for fallout as the sell-off in digital assets increases daily, and venture investors have no appetite for crypto firms.

Harrison’s hope for the bright crypto future

Harrison served as the president of FTX US from May 2021 until September this year. In addition to being a president of FTX.US, Harrison also ran FTX stocks and FTX US derivatives divisions.

Announcing his resignation, he underlined that he’s is not leaving the crypto space.

“I’m remaining in the industry with the goal of removing technological barriers to full participation in and maturation of global crypto markets, both centralized and decentralized,” Harrison wrote at the time.
