- This is all part of the larger policy initiatives with regard to AI and quantum computing in the overall strategy frameworks.
David Sacks has stated that he has taken over the position of the co-chair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology on Thursday. Sacks has been functioning as the White House’s AI and crypto czar. He has been responsible for handling the early stages of the administration’s initiatives in crypto. Sacks stated that the PCAST is the main external organization that advises the President on the administration of science, technology, and innovation policies.

Sacks has mentioned that thirteen accomplished leaders in the field of science and technology would be the members of the council in the beginning. Sacks has moved on from the position of the czar and has completed the task assigned to him as a special government employee. Sacks has mentioned that the designation only allowed him to work for 130 working days under the government employment regulations. Lawmakers had been concerned about the period of the czar’s employment of the czar in the past congressional sessions.
Policy Focus Shifts Toward Emerging Technologies
Sacks further explained that “the focus of this advisory council is on artificial intelligence, quantum computing, nuclear power, and other emerging technologies. They will be engaged in studies that will help shape our national technology policy.”
Sacks further explained that a lot is being planned in the field of advancing the President’s artificial intelligence framework that was announced by the policymakers last week. It has been noted that the council is active in various other areas of innovation outside the artificial intelligence initiatives in the government’s policy development. In the interview with Sacks, there is no mention of the initiatives of the council in the field of cryptocurrency. This is observed as a clear indication that more is involved in the field of technology globally.
Advisory Council Composition and Broader Implications
The council consists of influential people in the technology sector such as Marc Andreessen, Sergey Brin, Michael Dell, Jensen Huang, Lisa Su, and Mark Zuckerberg. Fred Ehrsam is also a member of the council. Fred is an early supporter of Coinbase. Therefore, the council consists of people from the cryptocurrency and technology sectors globally.
Michael Kratsios will act as the co-chair together with Sacks, ensuring that the council gets the required experience from all the different administrations in which he has been a part. According to analysts, the council comprises individuals who have worked together in the development of future directions in the technology policy space worldwide. The development shows the integration of technologies in national policy spaces as the government seeks to address the issue worldwide.
