Web 3 travel platform Travala partners with Trivago, giving crypto users access to over 2.2 million hotels on the global booking service platform.
Leading crypto-native travel booking service Travala announced its strategic partnership with trivago, a global hotel and accommodation search platform, integrating 2,200,000 hotels into its service. The announcement, made earlier this week, will allow trivago users to search for hotels and accommodations across 230 countries, pay in crypto and receive additional rewards via the Travala app.
Simply, millions of users on Trivago will now be able to discover, compare, and book their favourite accommodations globally, as Timo Itterbeck, Head of Account Management APAC / LATAM / Spain at trivago explained. Starting today, when selecting the integrated properties on trivago, travellers will be redirected to Travala, allowing them to pay in over 100 + cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, and Travala’s native travel loyalty token, AVA.
Speaking on the latest agreements and integration of crypto to trivago’s user base, Itterbeck stated:
“At trivago, we aim to provide travellers with the most comprehensive overview of all available accommodation options. By integrating Travala, we’re expanding the choice for our customers while also broadening their ability to book with emerging payment options like cryptocurrencies.”
Notwithstanding, travellers on the Travala app will also have the option to directly book hotels and accommodation on trivago and receive loyalty rewards in Bitcoin or the native AVA token. The regards are available to all users who book their travels via Travala, regardless of whether they opt to book with traditional payments or cryptocurrencies.
The AVA Smart Program, Travala’s loyalty rewards program, launched in partnership with the AVA Foundation, offers travellers who book through the platform up to 13% in discounts and savings. The program members receive travel discounts, booking givebacks, bonus rewards, and more. Additionally, users can upgrade their Smart membership for enhanced rewards by locking their AVA tokens.
Re-Inventing Travel And Accommodation With Cryptocurrencies
Travala launched in 2017 and has since grown into the largest crypto-native travel booking service, boasting over 2.5 million properties across 230 countries. In addition, the platform offers users over 400,000+ activities to choose from and over 600+ airlines globally. Travala’s main goal lies in enhancing the adoption of crypto globally, giving digital currencies utility and use cases in users’ daily lives.
According to the company’s reports in January, it recorded $100 million in gross yearly revenue in 2024, almost doubling its revenue from the previous year. On average, 78% of all bookings on Travala in 2024 were paid for using cryptocurrency, highlighting the increasing demand for crypto travel.
Speaking on the growth of crypto payments on the platform and the recent integration with Travala, Juan Otero, CEO of Travala said:
“Our integration with trivago is another key step in bringing crypto adoption to the masses. There are hundreds of billions of daily searches performed across travel metasearch engines, and adding Travala to trivago isn’t just beneficial for us—it helps amplify and further legitimise the entire crypto ecosystem by expanding the prevalence of crypto transactions for real-world services.”
Trivago becomes the latest service to join the Travala family, following integrations with other global travel booking metasearch engines such as Skyscanner and KAYAK. Moreover, Travala recently announced the inclusion of its luxury Concierge service in BRAVOS by Meliá Hotels International, an exclusive, invitation-only program that provides unparalleled access to VIP benefits and rewards at Meliá’s most luxurious properties.
Finally, the company, in part with the AVA Foundation also released a $100,000 AVA airdrop to its Smart Steel – Diamond members on Solana and a further 125,000 $LINGO airdrop to their Smart Diamond and Platinum members.
