Despite being under 25 years of house arrest for participating in the 2016 $4.5 billion Bitfinex hack, the 31-year-old Heather Morgan, also known as Razzlekhan and Crocodile of Wall Street, has reportedly landed a new job with an undisclosed tech firm.
According to a Bloomberg report, the magistrate judge granted Morgan’s attorney’s request to modify the terms of her house arrest so that she can use three working days, specifically from 10 a.m to 8:30 p.m at the New York office of the tech firm.
Heather Morgan will be working as a growth marketing and business development specialist. Her attorney Eugene Gorokhov also revealed that the judge granted its request for non-disclosure of firm details.
Although it’s unclear if Morgan’s episodes of borderline TikToks helped her close the deal, whichever way it is, the court believes that keeping things under wraps at this point is necessary to avoid harassment and disparaging social media comments.
Recall that the U.S. Justice Department charged Morgan and her husband Lichtenstein in February 2022 for orchestrating one of the largest hacks in the country’s history, and Morgan was freed on a $3 million bond.
Lichtenstein is serving his 25-year-old jail term on conspiracy to commit money laundering charges. .
Fighting for a plea deal
Since March last year the couple has been trying to secure a plea deal, and the next court hearing is slated for this month.
Federal authorities initially opposed to Morgan’s $3 million bail bond have also argued in court that the couple already has access to fraudulent travel documents and identities to aid their escape.
The authorities also revealed that before the covid 19 pandemic, the couple already had a contingency plan to relocate to Russia or Ukraine.
