Following efforts to further enhance its privacy schemes, Brave, a blockchain-based browser has announced a partnership with Electric Coin Co. (ECC), and Filecoin Foundation.
According to the announcement, the partners will work together to create cutting-edge innovations targeted at bringing new privacy features to the Brave browser and its integrated Web3 wallet.
ECC Empowers Brave to Integrate Zcash Protocol
As the platform behind Zcash, ECC’s partnership with Brave will see the latter incorporating the Zcash protocol into its built-in crypto wallet.
Following plans to boost economic freedom by providing users with access to a fair and open currency, ECC launched Zcash a few years ago. Since its launch, Zcash has been serving as a privacy-focused cryptocurrency that allows users to securely shield their assets while encrypting transaction information.
Notably, its integration on Brave’s wallet represents another measure towards providing users with greater control over their Web3 activity since they can now carry out private transactions alongside public ones on the wallet.
The CEO at Electric Coin Co, Zooko Wilcox expressed his delight at the development saying; “I’m excited about integrating Zcash into the Brave web browser because privacy should be normal. The Brave browser is a tool that tens of millions of people are using for everyday communication, web browsing, shopping, and other activities. This gives them access to money that respects their security and consent.”
With the Zcash protocol now featured on Brave’s web3 wallet, users can now store, send, and receive ZEC alongside other cryptocurrencies in a secure manner.
ECC and FileCoin, a Perfect Fit to Bolster Brave’s Privacy Goals
With its mission to build a more private and user-first Web, Brave appears to have collaborated with like-minded organizations as they seem to bear the same burden for a privacy-oriented environment.
Yan Zhu, the CISO at Brave acknowledged this by saying;
“This partnership with like-minded organizations reinforces Brave’s mission for a more private and user-first Web. Not only do we hope to make it simple to use ZEC for private transactions, but we also aim to maximize privacy during key moments of purchase or exchange.”
This partnership seemed to have also been warmly welcomed by their fans, as comments on the tweet revealing the partnership revealed excitement and enthusiasm. One of the comments on the partnership states;
My favorite browser with my favorite crypto. Am I dreaming? ??#Zcash

As part of their collaborative vision, Brave, ECC, and the Filecoin Foundation also gave hints on their upcoming project. At a recent event in New York, the trio revealed that they’re working on adding a new privacy feature to the Brave web browser.
This feature will allow users to send private messages and share media using the Zcash protocol. Meanwhile, to keep this content safe, they’ll use the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), which is the tech behind Filecoin, for secure storage.
Zcash Price as of Today
Although analysis provided by Coincodex revealed that the current sentiments on the price of ZEC are slightly bearish, it is possible that its integration on Brave wallet may trigger a positive turn of events in the long run.
As of the time of writing, the currency is trading at $ 26.10, representing a decrease of -4.38% in its price since the last 24 hours, and a +0.05% price surge in the last 7 days.
